About This Book

The Shri Hanuman Chalisa (श्री हनुमान चालीसा) is a devotional hymn composed in the Awadhi language by the 16th-century poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas. 'Chalisa' means forty, referring to the 40 chaupais (quatrains) of the hymn. It begins and ends with two dohas (couplets) and describes the glory, virtues, and feats of Lord Hanuman - the embodiment of strength, devotion, and selfless service. The Chalisa is one of the most recited prayers in Hinduism, believed to ward off evil, cure disease, and grant courage and peace to the devotee. It is especially powerful when recited on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
